Our Global Content Manager, Annie Bowmaker, is learning to embrace early starts with the help of her one-year-old daughter.

In these precious first hours, there’s plenty of time to take things slowly. Annie’s mornings prioritise family time, as well as finding a little space for the self-care rituals that set her up for the day ahead.

"Although I wouldn’t call myself a morning person, since having my daughter I’m learning to love getting up early. I still snooze until the very last minute, but the early starts have now become my favourite part of the day. First thing, I get my daughter out of her crib, and we have sleepy cuddles together. Getting up early allows us to take our time and hang out together as a family before my husband and I begin work.

"My non-negotiable for feeling fully awake is a really hot shower. To save time, I do all my skincare in the shower. I use a gentle face cleanser every morning, and twice a week I exfoliate with a micro-dermabrasion polish for added glow. If I have an extra five minutes, I might use a hot oil cleanser too. After showering I like to apply our Firming Body Lotion Serum; it’s quick drying, which is great as I often have little time for self-care in the mornings. It’s also lightly scented, leaves my skin feeling so soft and I love knowing that its prebiotic properties are nourishing my skin’s microbiome throughout the day. I am pretty lazy when it comes to looking after my skin, so hard working products like this are perfect for me."

"Even though I work remotely from my home office in Dallas, I still take the time to get ready for the day as if I were heading into the office- I style my hair and apply a little makeup and fragrance. Doing this makes me feel ready for the day ahead. It also helps to create a sense of separation between home and work, even without the commute. I keep my makeup simple, some concealer to hide dark circles, a little bronzer, and a couple of swipes of mascara. I like to apply our Signature Eau de Parfum most mornings– my absolute favourite smell is jasmine which is at the heart of this scent."

"I think the key to a good morning is to find at least 10 minutes for myself as, especially as a new mum, it can be difficult to find a quiet moment in the day while juggling work and a baby. I think carving out that bit of ‘me time’ first thing sets you up for a good day ahead. For me, that means making myself a lovely hot cup of coffee – I just can’t start my day without it. Now that it’s getting warmer, and we are enjoying bright mornings here in Texas, I tend to drink my coffee outside so I can feel the sun on my face, and get some vitamin D. I’m making the most of this particular ritual before the mosquitos return!"

"I really love my mornings just as they are. If I could wake up anywhere, it would be by the beach with the sound of the ocean outside my window. Of course, an extra hour of sleep wouldn’t go amiss! But otherwise I think I would keep everything pretty much as it is."
